British executives from the rail companies started golf in Mar del Plata in 1890 in the links located in Playa Grande.

Mar del Plata manages four clubs and five courses which are open all throughout the year to those who want to play whether with handicap or not.

Golfers are challenged to try parkland or link-style courses.

A Scotish-style course located 40 km from Mar del Plata is also worth visiting.

Mar del Plata Golf Club: "The Golf Cathedral"

It is located in one of the most aristocratic neighbourhoods in Mar del Plata and manages two courses The undulating terrain of the old Scotish-like link-style course is a great test for golfers. It is named the Golf Cathedral due to the challenge that it represents.

The outstanding Tudor style Club House which overlooks the sea is considered one of the most beautiful residences in the city.

The club is visited by personalities and top players from all over the world.

Main features: 18 holes / 6024 yd. - Par 70 (men) / 5431 yd. - Par 72 (women).

The new American-style parkland course is located in Mario Bravo Ave. and Triunvirato St. four kilometres from the old one.

Main features: 18 holes / 6527 yd. - Par 71 (men) / 5678 yd. - Par 73 (women)

Club Mar del Plata Golf Los Acantilados

It is a 27 hole parkland course laid out in a 222 acre park over undulating terrain 5.5 kilometres from the Punta Mogotes lighthouse. It represents a special challenge to golfers because of its uneven terrain.

The course is surrounded by pine trees, cypresses and cedars and at the end of it there is a pond which bounds on four holes.
The club offers all the facilities a golfer needs like a 12 bay driving range, a bar and a restaurant,
Different tournaments often take place for instance “Copa de Oro Senior” in October and “Copa Dr. Eugenio Blanco” in January.

Golf Sierra de los Padres

18 hole course which challenges players due to its location 14 km. from the city centre . Its narrow and tilted fairways are surrounded by lush vegetation and its wide greens are guarded by bunkers.

The comfortable club house offers different facilities including a swimming pool which is opened during summer season.

Two important tournaments take place: “Tee de Oro” in November and “Torneo Amistad” in February.

Marayuí Country Club

This 9 hole American-style course is part of a beautiful country club. A picturesque stream runs through the course turning three holes into a real challenge.

Wide fairways surrounded by impressive residences lead to the end of the course where the club house, a magnificent Tudor residence, is the right place to enjoy a view of the course or to stay in one of the house rooms.
